Pest Inspections
Although commonly referred to as a “termite or pest inspection,” the technical term for this service is “wood-destroying organism inspection” (WDO). When obtaining a mortgage, you may be required to obtain a WDO inspection from the bank, the mortgage company, guarantor (FHA, VA, HUD, etc.) or insurance company. A WDO inspection looks for evidence of infestation by termites, wood decay or wood-devouring beetles. Additionally, it identifies evidence of past infestations/treatments, damage to wood, or conditions conducive to infestation. The findings of the inspection are then documented on the required form NPMA-33.
